The winner of three national championships, Gai Parada+++ is the only stallion to win a halter performance championship after he won two performance championships. Foaled in 1969, Gai Parada+++ won two pleasure driving championships in 1974, in the United States and in Canada, before going on to win the United States Stallion Championship in 1977. After winning the championship in 1977, Gai Parada+++ retired from performing and began his career as a breeding stallion. In his lifetime, he sired 459 foals. In his last years, Gai Parada+++ spent much of his time as a riding horse. His trainer spoke fondly of his days with Gai Parada+++ on the ranch where he lived in Santa Ynez, California: "He was a pleasure to ride, he was well-mannered, took an interest in everything, and kept your attention. He loved to be ridden out on the ranch around the cattle, and sometimes we cut cattle with him." Gai Parada+++ lived out his life as king of the ranch in Santa Ynez, and passed away in 1993 at the age of 24. |
